Evening all, just a quick update to try and kill my writers block.
I saw this on digg, and was a bit miffed at Gizmodo picking 20 rather average apps for their list. So, as ever, I thought i could do better. I then realised that I had already listed a few apps in this post, briefly naming a few apps that stood out. So here’s a more defined list:
- Twinkle – the best Twitter app, I find. So much so that I’ve actually stopped using the others, and have removed them. Great addition to be able to see Tweets from people within a specific radius to where you are. Future updates are limitless, and could make this app one of the most used, and most popular.
- Google Earth – Just fantastic little app, bringing all sorts of possibilities and avenues to venture down
- Last.fm – Pretty obvious I was going to pick this app, since I’m such a fan of the company / website anyway. If only they could get rid of the random crashes, I’d be listening to it more than the actual music stored on my phone.
- Trism – Fabulous little game once mentioned on Diggnation I think, kind of a cross between Bejeweled and Tetris, only with triangles. current high store of about 12 million points… yep, I’m that addicted.
- Wurdle – Very nearly didn’t make the list as the last two updates have left the app unplayable. Hopefully they’ll work the bugs out soon, so I can get back to playing this timed word-search type game. Yes, I did say wordsearch, and yes, this does make word searching fun.
- Trace – Another great idea taking advantage of touch-screen technology; use your fingers to draw lines, blobs, pillars and all sorts to get your wee man to a flagged area, avoiding all sorts of flying things trying to kill you. Annoyingly impossible sometimes, but always fascinating and addictive
- Wikipanion – The only paid app I didn’t stutter on upgrading too. The free version is decent enough, but Id strongly recommend looking into this version. The only rivals to google when it comes to getting answers to things.
- Stanza - Books via your phone, whatever next?
- Movies – Does exactly what it says on the tin; the ability to find movies at your local cinemas, seeing whats coming soon, reviews and all sorts. A great addition to have when you’re on the move with friends.
- I Can Has Cheezburger – Caption + photo = lols. Not just cats and dogs, but all of the other funny sites currently crammed into my RSS feed reader.
I’m constantly updated, removing, upgrading and changing my apps, so expect a whole new 10 in a few months time, I’m sure.
